JANUARY GENERAL MEETING
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 2, 2019

The Wednesday January 2, 2019 regular General Meeting of the Toronto Police Pensioners Association was held at the Toronto Police Association  2075 Kennedy Road, Toronto.
ROLL CALL: Dennis Ewaniuk, Roger Dodson, Noel Camilleri. Keith Bland.  Susana Aguila (Vacation)
ATTENDANCE: 85 Members and 4 Executive were in attendance

1.CALL TO ORDER

President Dennis Ewaniuk called the meeting to order at 12.03pm

2.DECEASED MEMBERS

The following names of members who had passed away since the last General Meeting were read out. Jake Mol, Avrid Landstrom, Frank Wood, Philip Wilson, Bob Evans, Michael Novak, Jerome McGrath, James Corrigan, Fred Kroher, Art Lymer.

3. MINUTE’S SILENCE

Members present were asked to stand to observe a minute’s silence in honor of the deceased members

4. ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTES OF DECEMBER 5, 2018 GENERAL MEETING

The minutes from the December 5, 2018 General Meeting were circulated to the members in attendance. A motion to accept the minutes as presented was moved by Eddy Gas[arptto and seconded by Leo Van Der Groef.
Motion Carried.
      

5.GUEST SPEAKER

Mike McCormack from the Toronto Police Association spoke regarding the role of the TPA and the TPPA.  Stated that he had been working with Dennis, Noel and Drew Johnston in how to improve the benefits for the pensioners.  Looking at options in how to improve the benefits.
There was a Question and Answer time provided.  There were many questions asked of Mike and information provided back to the members.

6.OMERS MERGE

The merge is moving along.  There were only 13 members who voted against the merger.

7.NEW BUSINESS

George Murphy inquired as to the procedures of death notices.  We only act on them when we are notified.  When we are notified we make contact with the family member. 

8.UPCOMING EVENTS

General Meeting February 6, 2019 Royal Canadian Legion 110 Jutland Road, Etobicoke.
General Meeting March 6, 2019 Royal Canadian Legion, 150 Mostar Street, Stouffville.
Florida Reunion Wednesday March 7h, 2019
Spring Golf June 5th Lakeridge Golf Club.

 

9.DRAW

A draw for prizes was held for the members that were present.

A motion to adjourn was moved by Hugh Riddell and seconded by Dave Craghill.
